Jodie Bond

Master Instructor

Hi, for all that don’t know me my name is Jodie Bond, I am originally a country girl from the Eastern states. I have been a customer and now an employee at Perth Scuba since I moved over to Perth inJodie on Perth Scuba's Egypt tour 2006 from Queensland. I quickly took up diving by completing my OW course and then I was completely hooked. I was diving most weekends and completing different course at every opportunity, before I knew it I was completing the IDC and PADI Instructors exams and here I am, teaching at Perth Scuba and loving it!

I originally started diving for 2 main reasons – a) I always wanted to do it and where I am from there isn’t much water and the Ocean is about 6 hours away. b) I thought it would be a great way to meet new people being new in a city where I didn’t know anyone at all. Well I can gladly say that I have achieved both my goals and have met some great friends through the Manta Club (yep – the BEST dive club ever – can’t wait for the next trip!)

My Favourite Dive Sites in WA: The Swan and Perth Wrecks – you see something different every time! And Swirl Reef at Rottnest Island where you are nearly guaranteed to see some of the bigger stuff like rays, turtles and sharks.

Best Ever Dive: Bonegi 1 in the Solomon Islands, this is a wreck from WWII that sits on a slope at about 45 degree angle that starts at 5m deep and goes down to about 50m – a completely AMAZING dive with reef and an abundance of tropical fish and heaps of rooms that you can explore all over the ship –  I could go on about it forever!

Worst Ever Dive: This is a hard one as most of my dives have been pretty cruisy, but if I had to pick one it would be a night dive in the Swan River after about 5 inches of rain – the water was a dark orange/brown colour and you couldn’t see your finger or torch 1 inch in front of your face!

Favourite piece of dive equipment: I Have to pick one?!?!?!? Well that would be my Scubapro Thermal Tec Westsuit, the best wetsuit for the colder months.

Why I love diving: This should be obvious for all divers out there! But Hey I love everything to do with the ocean and I just love being out there! I also enjoy experimenting with my underwater camera as I used to do photography (land based) a few years ago and every time I dive with my camera I learn something new.
