Port Jackson Sharks breeze through night dive

written by Brett Cook – Perth Scuba PADI Divemaster

The calm and beckoning waters around the Ammo Jetty were waiting for us tonight, Wednesday 5 March 2014.

There were 8 of us that shared the jetty with the many fisherman to experience the abundant marine life around the jetty pylons and structures. When I say structures, I mean camping chairs, crab nets and even a wheel chair. All of these items though have been enveloped by the numerous fish and life that surround the jetty. Schools of whiting call the clumps of seagrass their home, while the gaps and cracks amongst some limestone along the sea floor and the fallen pylons provide our eight legged friends a place to call home. Not to mention Blue ringed octopus as well. Numerous Sea horses staking claim to areas of the soft corals. The resident Lionfish graced us with his presence also. Did I mention the two Port Jackson sharks just breezing through…

Thanks to everyone who came tonight, some new faces and some brand new Aqua-Lung gear too.
