This course was formally known as Certificate IV in Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) but has recently been updated the WHS to meet the new national harmonisation Work Health Safety Act 2011.

The Cert IV in WH&S is offered as a comprehensive 5 day face-to-face workshop run in the training centre in Perth.

Option 3 Distance learning

Through distance-learning, you can start your WHS safety training course straight away, and we offer a continual student intake on this basis, utilising online course learning resources as well as other electronic course materials.

Option 4 Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Coral Reef Institute recognises that adults bring to their learning a wide variety of experiences and all participants of accredited VET courses are advised of the availability of Recognition of Prior Learning/Current Competencies (RPL/RCC). Assessments will be made against the competency standards or learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the course curriculum or training package and takes into account skills and knowledge you may have already gained through life or work experience and previous study. These are measured against your chosen course of study and if relevant and sufficient evidence is submitted you may be granted credits or exemptions for some parts of your studies.

The Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety will provide you first-class training and student support while you undertake your studies in this WHS course. It is a fully nationally accredited and nationally recognised training course designed to meet the needs of WHS specialists in both business and industry. The Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (BSB41412) is comprised of 9 units, 6 core units and 3 elective. This workplace health and safety course is now the minimum requirement for WHS safety officer duties and management in many workplaces and is designed to enable participants to contribute to an organisation’s WH&S Management Systems.

There are no formal prerequisites for the Cert IV in Work Health and Safety, however it does require that you have sound language and literacy skills, and basic word processing. You will also need to be able access to a workplace to complete the workplace-based assessments (can be a present workplace or a friend/colleagues and alternative arrangements for those in between work without access to a workplace). To support your studies you will be provided with qualified trainers, all learning materials, flexible delivery options, telephone and email support.
