Glassy waters of the Coogee northern wall

written by Brett Cook – Perth Scuba PADI DivemasterPerth Scuba Manta Club Dive North Wall Coogee Marina 09Mar2014 (3)

Weather conditions were ideal for the short stroll over the sand and into the glassy waters of the northern wall of Coogee Marina. Despite the larger than normal numbers at this site, as some courses were being run, visibility was a pretty good 7m at this protected little location.

Some fairly large schools of bulls eyes seemed to follow us along the wall today. Sea urchins and the occasional nudibranch could be found along the way. A good opportunity to work on your buoyancy control when hovering to look at the many octopus peeking out of the holes in the rocks. Playful Sea Wrasse and Old Wives were also found amongst the rocks whilst flittering schools of bait fish sparkled, as the sun came out from behind the clouds providing a great backdrop.

Some more new faces today and thanks also to our own shore patrol today – Lindsay and Joshua. Thanks again for a great dive and see you on Wednesday for the night dive.

Editor’s Note: A big thank you to Lindsay and Brett for stepping in short notice to cook a yummy BBQ and look after our wonderful Manta Club Divers – THANKS FELLAS!
