Greeted by a Sea Lion and schools of snapper at the start of new spring diving season

Greeted by a Sea Lion and schools of snapper at the start of new spring diving season

Sunday 22 September 2019

This Sunday morning was nice, warm, and sunny, and almost perfect weather and water conditions were seen at Woodman Point. A group of ten Manta Club divers of all experience levels headed to the groyne at the end of Woodman Point View after a morning barbeque. The water was calm and clear (5-7 meters of visibility).

A Sea Lion also met most of our group swimming near the tip of groyne on the southern side (I somehow missed it but the other 7 or 8 divers swam with it).  Many brain corals were all at their usual locations, near the tip of groyne. All of our dive crew enjoyed the “warmish” (17C) water while being surrounded by schools of various small fish. I think I was the only one wearing a hood, just to test the waters after diving in tropical locations previous few times.

Divers of  various different experience levels were present, from the hardcore Manta Club veterans to those attending for the first time;  everybody enjoyed exploring this dive site. Thanks everyone for coming to this Manta Club dive! See you on next dives soon.
