Manta Club Dive at Woodman Point

Manta Club dive at Woodman Pt View – good visibility, very warm water, and many schooling fish

Sunday 10 January 2021

This Sunday morning was warm and sunny, but not too hot. Good water conditions were seen at Woodman Point, despite a southerly wind of 15 knots which caused some choppiness. Underwater, there was no “wind” or surge. Some seahorses were spotted on the SE side of groyne, and many brilliant brain corals were all at their usual locations, near the tip of groyne, and some more over the SE side.

Twenty of the dive crew (many permanent, some part time, and some newly “recruited” into Manta Club) enjoyed the warm (24C) water while being surrounded by schools of various small fish. Almost all kinds small fish that lives nearby in Cockburn Sound were seen, and the schooling Talmas looked great. The visibility was good, near 3 – 6 m, varying between places a lot. Plenty of catfish, morwongs, and small parrotfish.

Divers of all different experience levels were present, and everybody enjoyed exploring this dive site. It was especially great to see many new Manta Club members joining our Club today.. Thanks everyone for coming to this Club dive! See you on next dives soon. By the time water gets any cooler (maybe July), looks like plenty of newly-trained and then more experienced new divers will be able to continue all-seasons diving.
