Bicton Baths glassy and warm

Last nights dive on Wednesday 7/1/15 was looking like a windy one from all the reports, indicating 25 knot southerlies!  So we decided on a river dive as opposed to the ocean. Bicton Baths was the chosen location.

On arriving at the riverbank car park we noticed that the weather was very calm and the surface was almost glassy. It was a lovely warm summers evening and all 12 divers gathered and chatted for a while waiting for the sun to drop a little more.
We headed into the water after the briefing and soon realised the current was running. In my group of five divers we were finding it hard to effectively stay together in the conditions, so we broke into a group of two and three. Me and my buddy set out for deeper water in search of a few prawns but had limited luck. We did however see a few of the other usuals including Slender Sea Moths, Flatheads, Seahorses, Jellyfish and Leatherjackets.
We zig zagged against the current for a while, then turned round and pretty much did a drift dive. Although it seemed a lot of the common river species were in hiding, It was a good dive nonetheless. Providing good conditions to challenge our navigation skills.
Roll on next week when we will be checking out all the Ammo Jetty has to offer.
