Cloudy with the chance of fish

written by Adam Booth – Perth Scuba PADI Dive Master

A glorious spring day awaited us on Sunday 14/09/2014 as 12 of Perth Scubas club members went for a dive at Ammo Jetty.

After a breaky of bacon and eggs and a short dive briefing we headed to the site to gear up.

Once ready we headed down to the jetty were beautiful calm seas awaited us, which look extremely positive for a fantastic dive.

Unfortunately the conditions under the water didn’t match the above as the storms from the beginning of the week showed on the site where it was very cloudy and very low vis of only around 1/2m.

From what could be seen while on the dive there was a few cowfish around and plenty of blowies as usual. There were a few large schools of what looked to be herring and for the lucky few they saw a couple of large Samson fish.

This site as always has great potential as a fantastic dive which I can guarantee will be the case when the weather starts to fine up.

Don’t forget on October 12th Perth Scuba will be heading down to Ammo Jetty for the annual clean up day which this site desperately needs so please come along and lend a hand in this great cause.
