No room at the Coombe
written by Adam Booth – Perth Scuba PADI Dive Master
Well it was a very unpleasant and wild weather day on Sunday 21 September 2014 which meant a change of plans and a last minute think of where to head to for the dive. After a few conversations we settled on the Coombe.
We headed down and geared up in the pouring rain ready to get wetter than we already were.
While gearing up we were joined by Simon and his students plus another couple of groups leaving not much room at the Coombe car park.
Heading in to the water, the temp in the river wasn’t too bad, taking our bearings we headed down only to be blacked out by the horrible vis that met us.
After fumbling around in near darkness for a few minutes we decided to head back to the surface and head near the rocks were we dropped down and some of the boys practiced there buoyancy skills while the rest of us searched the rocks and saw plenty of shells and a few small groups of fish.
The weather wasn’t great and neither was the dive site but at least we had fun and a few laughs. And as they always say a crap day diving is better than a good day at work.
The weather is looking better for this Sunday so lets hope it stays that way and we finally start getting the great dive weather we all want.
Also just a reminder about the upcoming dive clean up at Ammo jetty just a few weeks away on the 12/10/2014. This is a great cause and we hope to see all of you there to lend a hand.
