Proving that a change in weather can still give sensational diving

written by Sarah Toohey – Perth Scuba PADI Dive MasterPerth Scuba Manta Club Dive Kwinana Grain Terminal 30Mar2014-2

Uncertain weather conditions put our Cottesloe, Elizabeth Wreck adventure on hold this fine Sunday 30 March 2014 and we set our sights for the Kwinana Grain Terminal and it’s protected waters.

Our delightful Manta Club members, fuelled up by their bacon and egg roll brekkie, were ready to test the waters and search out all the cuttlefish being reported around here lately…. and again, the KGT did not disappoint!

Besides the unbelievable amount of small cuttlefish dotted all underneath the jetty, octopus were active crawling over the small reef sections between pylons or poking out of their hidey-holes curiously as divers came close. Large schools of squid allowed a few of us to get close enough to touch them as we watched their bodies change colour in electric movements.

This sensational day of diving is proof that we should not let a little change in weather stop us from getting in the water. So much to see and so easy to get to!

Come along and see what this change of weather has to offer.
