Sidemount & Solo Diver Course

Underwater Festival 2013Friday 18 – Sunday 20 October 2013 (evening start!)

One of SDI’s most popular courses, the Solo Diver Program teaches experienced recreational divers how to safely dive independently of a dive buddy or strengthen your buddy team skills. The course stresses on proper dive planning, personal limitations, accident prevention as well as the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for diving solo.  You will also learn the additional equipment that is required for solo diving including it’s proper usage and assembly. This is the prefect course for underwater photography and underwater video divers. Now Perth Scuba have combined it with the TDI Sidemount Diver Course! Contact us to book onto this exciting course kicking off Friday 18 October 6:00pm, and continuing through Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 October.

Congratulations to our NEW Dive Instructors

PADI Instructor Exam

Last weekend 5th and 6th of October, whilst most of us were sitting back enjoying the weekend, 7 of Perth Scuba’s elite divers were going through their paces with the final Instructor Examination. After a full week of learning the PADI way to teach and learning all about this great industry with Perth Scuba Course Director Garth Schumann the crew of 7 were well and truly ready for the final step into becoming “immortal” dive instructors.

The IE went very well with all candidates blitzing the theory exams on the first night after a very calming presentation by PADI Examiner Junya Kato on the running of the IE.

Day 2 had the candidates doing classroom presentations and then a cold water session in the pool doing confined water skill presentations . Once again everyone flew through without a glitch and as the day went on the crew seemed even more relaxed.

Day 3 was the final hoorah and Open Water skills down at the Rockingham Wreck Trail. The sun was shining and it was a great day weatherwise. The water was clear (for the wreck trail) although a little bit wobbly on top.

UGA Mens Swim & Dive Harlem Shake

UGA’s swimming and diving team has gotten in on the latest video trend, creating an underwater Harlem Shake video, which went viral on YouTube a few months back.

Harlem Shake videos have swept the Internet, even some WA miners have gotten into the act (but we wouldn’t recommend it at work), and are set to the tune of Baauer’s Harlem Shake.

Each video follows the same theme: It starts with one person dancing as a group of people pretend not to notice, and then the video cuts to everyone in the group dancing crazily, sometimes in costume or using props. And we giggled over it this week and just wanted to re-share it with you all!!!
