Marc van der Poel Becomes one of only 2 TDI Instructor Trainers in WA
A Huge Congratulations goes out to our very own Marc van der Poel who on his recent trip to Sydney managed to survive an arduous week of teaching, skills presentations and exams to successfully become a TDI Instructor Trainer. This means that Perth Scuba can now teach our Technical Divers right up to Instructor level in TDI. Marc is also in the process of completing his Instructor Trainer level certification with PADI and we soon hope to be able to offer Instructional courses for both agencies.
The Instructor Trainer level is a very hard level to achieve and is a position which many Technical Diving – Dive Instructors aspire to become.
Well done Marc, so far we have had some great courses put together and run by Marc. From Extended range and Advanced Nitrox and Accelerated Decompression procedures to PADI Tec Rec 40, Tec Rec 45 and Tec Rec 50. We have teamed these courses up with Cavern Courses with Geoff Paynter for our upcoming Cave Diver Course in Mt Gambier. Marc has also been throwing his hand in with the Rebreather courses of late too. There is heaps going on in the world of Tec at Perth Scuba.
Did you know? That Technical Diving – is just another name for advanced diver training. Learning more about different gases and how they react at depth and using this information to make decompression dives safely and in the best possible time with the best possible gas for you for your dive. It’s a fun and exciting way to get more out of your diving without having to be a rocket scientist.
Contrary to what most people think, Technical diving doesn’t need to be expensive either. You can use your existing regulators and gauges, you can in most cases even use your own BCD to start out with, but you will find a back plate and wing is your best option down the track. The best part about that – is the back plate and wing set will only set you back about $500 – $1000 – depending on brands and wing sizes. The really cool thing about a back plate and wing set up – is you can use it for recreational diving too. AND when you travel, your kit takes up less than half the space and weighs half as much as a normal BCD set up.
Before you go out and invest in a full style BCD – why not look at the options of back plate and wing sets? Perth Scuba even have them for hire so you can check them out first!
Become a Technical Diver Today – The possibilities are endless. Dive Deeper, Longer and go where you only dreamed of going before… Take your diving to the next level. Courses start every week!
