Perth Scuba Galapagos Islands Tour 2012Perth Scuba PADI Refresher Course Western Australia
Lee & Joey return from The Galapagos IslandsFree Refresher Dive Day

Part 2 written by Lee Johnson – Perth Scuba Manager

We departed the island and headed up across the equator to Wolf and Darwin islands. These islands are what we came here for and the Humboldt Explorer is one of only 2 vessels which venture that far. The ocean was uncannily flat and smooth like glass as we headed towards the equator. It was 3pm and there was a massive pod of Dolphins jumping out of the water in every direction you looked. There must have been thousands of them and they seemed very happy to put on a show for us as we prepared ourselves for our equator party. The day was perfect. The sun was out, it was around 26 degrees and the water was clear. The crew was preparing for our party and the countdown had begun for our arrival at the equator. Everyone had a drink in hand as we all watched and waited and took in the awesome sights around us. The distant islands coming up steeply from the ocean floor looked sharp and inhabitable. This was the result of some serious volcanic action millions of years ago which made up the Galapagos Islands.

Can I have my Ray with you lovely ladies?

Well done, guys and girls! Each of you win a Perth Scuba Dive Watch valued at $150 each. Come on in and collect your prize from the shop!!!

Part 2 written by Joey Pool – Perth Scuba Assistant Instructor

Our second night in Cancun was party central! It was Saturday night and the place was going off!! There were drinking competitions going down in every pool around the many swim up bars, limbo competitions where everytime you got under the pole you were given a tequila shot and a sports bar where you could watch nearly any world game or play virtual golf – hilarious after a couple of tequila’s! And of course, being the sensible and responsible divers we are… We partook of none of the alcohol related action in preparation for our dives the following day…

Day 2 of our diving in Cancun and it was off to the Taj Ma Ha. No, I didn’t spell it wrong, it’s not meant to be Taj Ma hal. ‘Ha’ means water in Mayan, so it’s very fitting. Taj Ma Ha is located 5km south of the hotel down the main highway. From the turnoff a long dirt road leads out to the car parking area 10 minutes into the jungle. At the right time of year and the right time of day Taj Ma Ha has one of the most spectacular light shows of any of the caverns. The laser like beams of light entering the Points of Light room have to be seen to be believed – it was awesome!
