Night diving at Point Walter Reserve

written by Matthias Liffers – Perth Scuba PADI Dive Master

A small but intrepid group converged on the Point Walter jetty to blow some bubbles. Diver Adam completed his Open Water course only a few weeks ago, but was rip-raring to go for a night dive.Perth Scuba Manta Club Dive at Point Walter July 2013
The moon hung low in the sky as we entered from the jetty with a giant stride and finned around the pylons for a good look. Not many prawns were spotted, but there were seahorses everywhere! They were nice enough to pose for me as I worked on my night dive photography skills (which, admittedly, still need a lot of work).

We also spotted many different species of crabs, pufferfish and one of the largest starfish I’ve ever seen. To round it off, a few jellyfish were hanging around, looking almost otherworldly as they swum in the dark.
