Patto’s Egypt Tour

Day 4 – Egypt TourPerth Scuba Egypt Tour led by Nathan "Patto"

This morning we took up Hela on her offer of showing us around Coptic Cairo, the old part of Cairo that has so much history it is unimaginable. There are so many churches of different faiths, and all have architecture that puts today’s buildings to shame. The famous hanging church, given this name because it has no footings, balances on top of the Roman Army barracks that was built during the time when the Romans ruled Egypt and feared attack so they built an below ground level fortress.

Next we visited Mohammed Ali Mosque, this place is huge, when you stand inside and gaze to the ceiling which is 53m above and admire the paintings on the roof you lose yourself.

We said good bye to Hela our Egyptologist, Gavin slipped in a kiss during Ramadan naughty naughty.

We then headed into the Khan El Khalili Bazaar, the sites and smells of this place sent the senses into over load. The shop owners ask what you are looking for and even if you say nothing they reply “I have nothing come and take a look it’s Free”

From the Bazaar we travelled to the airport and boarded another plane to Aswan.

Ramadan finished at sun down tonight, Mo and the bus driver got stuck into the water and dates when the sun went down like children in a lolly shop, who could blame them after 30 days of fasting.
