Plenty of fun and plenty of fish at Elizabeth Reef

Manta Club dive at Elizabeth Reef, Cottesloe – plenty of fun, plenty of fish

Perth Scuba Sunday club dive

Written by Mikhail Vasiliev – Perth Scuba PADI Instructor

This Sunday morning was excellent for diving, even with some southerly wind and only about 0.5 m waves at Cottesloe. The dive site at Elizabeth Reef is somewhat less known to many Club divers, therefore it offers some novelty on a good day. After the barbeque, we took most available car parking spaces near Beach St and nearby, but the parking seemed easy this time.

We had 23 names on a roll today, including some all-seasons experienced dive crew (3 Perth Scuba PADI Instructors included), and many new Manta Club members keen to explore new dive sites along our Perth shoreline. Everybody was very excited to get into water, and underwater, the group has seen a great deal of reef area surrounding the site.

The visibility was  OK, near 3-6m in some places, better near 7-8 meters of depth. A lot of marine life was seen, including multiple Samson fish, bright blue-orange nudibranchs, and schools of sea fish trying their best to look like seagrass. Some fiddler rays were also present, and stripey Talmas.

Divers of  all different experience levels were present, and everybody enjoyed exploring this dive site. Thanks everyone for coming to this Manta Club dive! See you on next club dives soon.
