Point Walter BBQ party night and dive
Point Walter BBQ Party & Night Dive
It was Wednesday 23 June night and it was time for everyone to head down to Point Walter Reserve for our free BBQ catch up. With 14 divers keen to get wet we got our drysuits/ wet suits on and made our way down to the water.
With the wind blowing like crazy the water still managed to look reasonably nice. We made our descent then looked around the jetty. With not much around we decided to follow our compass out to the sand banks. The site was covered in swarms of baby shrimp everywhere you went. We also found a few large prawns, but not as many as usual. The crabs were a bit scarce too. But we did find some flat head, southern mantis shrimp, pistol shrimp, gobble guts and heaps of hermit crabs.
After 50mins of looking around we made our way in and over to the BBQ where Trav had the snags ready and waiting. With another 10 or so waiting for us we managed to get down a sausage or two, and take a snap before the rain came back, sending everyone running to their cars and on their way home.
