Sunday sunshine at South Mole Fremantle
written by Matthias Liffers – Perth Scuba PADI Divemaster
Almost 20 people came to the store for the free barbecue breakfast before we headed to Fremantle for the club dive.
We enjoyed the easy shore entry at the South Mole and cruised around, trying to find a weedy sea dragon. They proved elusive, though we did sea some crested morwongs, Woodwards pomfrets, leatherjackets and more.
I’m a bit of a nut for invertebrates and marvelled at a beautiful flatworm that looked almost like a delicate piece of lace moving along the sea floor. We also found a few different species of sea star, some sea cucumbers (including a bright pink sea apple), a couple of cuttlefish and an octopus.
