Diving the tranquil waters of The Coombe

Written by Brett Cook – Perth Scuba PADI Dive MasterPerth Scuba Manta Club Dive The Coombe 26Feb2014 (1)-2

While some chose to brave the clogged roads, 10 of us chose to dive the tranquil waters of the Coombe, in Mosman Park.

Conditions could not have been better to go down on the wrecks in the depths of the Swan River. Glassy conditions broken by many schools of prawns jumping with joy at the attraction of our torches.

A quick orientation then a nice descent down into the somewhat murky depths of this protected cove. Nursery might be a better description though, baby seahorses, cuttlefish, crabs, cobbler and the list goes on. Makes you wonder what’s in the water!

Many Seahorses again gracing us with their noble presence, swaying in the slight current along the ropes connecting the wrecks. Starfish some jellyfish and the odd anemone sporadically filled this moonscape as we swam the circuit.

A deco stop on the chain of the mooring buoys, took us back to the jumping prawns and a short surface swim followed by tales of our adventures.

What a great dive!
