Western whip tails at South Mole

written by Adam Booth – Perth Scuba PADI Dive Master

It was a gorgeous day this Sunday the 23rd November, the sun was shining and the weather was great.

After a hearty breaky of bacon and egg rolls 12 of us headed down to South Mole for the club dive.

Even though the weather god’s had created a beautiful day the Scuba god’s were having a Sunday morning sleep in and the conditions were not the best,¬†however the water was there and we were eager to get wet.

After kitting up and having the all important group photo we headed in.

There was plenty of seaweed around making it a little difficult to get our fins on but once we did we were on our way to the depths of the ocean, well all 5 meters of it anyway.

Even though the conditions were not the best with a bit of swell and around 1m of vis, we were able to see schools of Weeping Toado and quite a large number of Western Whip Tails in the area.

It was a nice way to start a Sunday even if it wasn’t 100% perfect like we hoped, the conditions this week are looking fantastic and the weekend should be no exception.

This coming Sunday we are heading to Ammo Jetty, come alone and enjoy a dive.

See you in the water next Sunday, meeting Perth Scuba 8:30am
